SEL - It’s not entirely clear if this marks the end of the whole episode but it certainly appears to (at least on the surface.) A skeptic might see this as a power play to deflate Yahoo’s stock and then come back with a tender offer or another try to buy the company in a weakened state.

I hope Yahoo stock tanks and Microsoft buys them for a song. Stupid ass Yahoo management decision turning down the one opportunity to increase competition to Google...

Have to agree Gab. This is the one decision that Yahoo might really end up regretting and paying dearly for.

Yahoo seems to be back pedalling now.  With their stock tumbling and them coming out saying that they were never against the original bid (that it wasn’t in writing was their concern), this gives the edge to Microsoft.  They can now make a lower bid than was originally stated because Yahoo doesn’t want to upset anymore shareholders.  That’s what happens when you call a bluff and lose!
