Conventional wisdom among experienced SEOs is that there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty. In general principle, this notion is true, but there are exceptions to this rule. In other words, duplicate content penalties do exist for certain scenarios, and that is what we are going to discuss in this post.

Great read, thanks. I always wonder about the dupe content paranoia, and how bad it really hurts you

It's several filters,   not a penalty.

I agree. I think duplicate content is one of those things that can look like a penalty, when in reality it's filters, but I do think there are cases where a penalty is applied. Perhaps if one trips too many filters.

No fear of duplicate content here, I on the contrary use it to rank pages higher, you just have to know how and think about chronology when introducing content through various channels. Spiders are intelligent enough to figure it who was first, even if it takes a few days to recover a ranking.

Thanks Vangogh for the great find on this one. Duplicate content is still a big problem and issue and we can't ignore it.
