A most fascinating subject and a well written post. You might even say a 'Hot Topic'. :)

At least they only wrote something nasty; they could have sold everything their other-halves owned like these two did.

Interesting observation - I guess it could really affect your job search (chance of getting hired) if a scorned spouse or others feel it's necessary to publicly discuss such things.

Hmm - pre-nups of the future may need i-privacy policies?

This is definitely a huge topic.  The web as a weapon really bothers me.  For ex., when we have to remove someone for breaking the rules at Cre8asiteforums, I always expect to see my name in lights somewhere and not in a good way.  And when Kathy Sierra stopped blogging due to death threats, we lost a gifted blogger with a huge following.  A friend of mine had to have his name removed from Wikipedia because he was slandered there.

We used to throw vases. Now we throw blog posts.

yup, all the more reason to treat people as we want to be treated or we suffer consequences. position of fault is not always relevant. prevention is the best medicine.

@ Glen - you're very welcome, it was a timely post. @ Kim - she hasn't stopped blogging or presenting as far as i know. I saw her present at Webstock in Feb and that was her first foray back into presenting since the scare. She was fantastic.

@Kal, is she blogging somewhere else?  Her blog - http://headrush.typepad.com/ hasn't been updated in a year, since what happened.

Hmmm, I see what you mean and I can't find anything new. At Webstock she was talking as though she was still blogging, but perhaps I assumed too much. Shame!

Maybe she went somewhere else to blog?  I do miss her. She is articulate, fun, and very smart!
