As the web matures and Google improves its search results with the most relevant sites, it’s going to become increasingly difficult for small publishers to get ahead. Get going before it’s too late.

Interesting post; I agree with your strategy for building authority and a brand.  But, for those of us who may not have the resources to do so right now, I personally think the best strategy would be to land a job with one of those large companies that already has the brand name.  Learn how it works for them so you’ll gain the relevant experience.   Then you can go out and do it for yourself.I see a lot of people arguing about whether SEO is a dying profession.  I’d rather not get mixed up in that conversation.  What I think is that SEO is currently a part of an overall marketing strategy that companies should be using.  If SEO disappears, which is unlikely, then the question still remains: "How do I get people to come to my website?"If you can answer that question for yourself or another individual, then  you’ll probably have a job for years and years to come.
