Hes overlooking the dangers of having all your eggs in one basket. Googles slap comes to mind mulling this over. Ive been his recommended route once with my Ubuntu site until my PR6 got snatched. Talk about an eye opener. Since then Ive been about diversification.
Pursuing sites that interest you the most doesnt mean you cant diversify, unless you only have one interest in your life. And seriously...what has PR got to do with influence or profit? Unless your site is not getting any search traffic at all (cuz of the PR slap), its irrelevant. PR doesnt negate the fact that passion drives and motivates web publishers to excel or strive towards profit or influence.Perhaps you misread my article.
Putting the whole "good strategy, bad strategy" thing aside. I think youre absolutely right DoshDosh. From a psychological stand point, it makes the most sense to pursue something that you are deeply passionate about. All this nonsense about attention deficit disorder can be fixed without pills. Passion is the Adderall of my ADD. When Im writing about what I love...I am FOCUSED!!! lol!
Thats pretty much how I started, I was leading myself to believe that I could make money even I want really into the topic. A lot goes into developing a website and making it profitable, but one thing will never change and that is content. If its not good nothing else matters.
