Looks like Facebook is lifting the gates within the next several weeks to search engines to index public profile pages of its users. You can change a privacy setting however if you do not wish for your Facebook profile to be indexed.

Thought this would catch some attention.

Opening the profiles to SE’s is fine, however, optin rather than optout would be a better way to implement it. Like it or not there are probably 10’s of thousands of abandoned or spam profiles that don’t get included using the optin method.
