The site would need to have the word “olympics” on their home page in order for it to really work. Ideally, the site would cooperate with us and take our SEO advice in terms of on-page factors that they would need to change to help with the “olympics” ranking. I think a good candidate site to send our “link love” to would be FreeTibet.org, a non-profit, non-governmental campaign to help the Tibetan people achieve the right to determine their own future.

Great idea, and of course we can expect all those who have been talking about morals and ethics for the last couple of days to write a post?
;)

Good stuff - mine's up already on my personal blog. Didn't take too long to think about to be honest.

Word Olympics linking to Tibet site? Check.

Video of Olympic thugs hitting British citizens? Check.

Sweet!

;)

I put a sidebar link on my swimming blog; shall include a better one in text when I think of something to write about said sports fest. Relevance is nice!

But Christ people: what the hell are you doing on this thread? Let's go back to debating the real ethical problem over on the linkbait post ;)

A subject where the term "ethics" has a correct place.

Ah - so 'ethics' doesn't belong in a marketing discussion? Riiiiiiiiiight.

Anyhoo - love this idea. I'll see how I can make the necessary changes.

@Kimota - come on, I don't personally think that ethics isn't a relevant topic, just that it didn't apply to the other issue (i.e. I don't think it's unethical) - anyway, let's not spoil this thread with that discussion eh?

Anyway, let's agree to disagree and let's all support this one - looking forward to seeing all the different ways people do this.

Enough people do think ethics applies to warrant the debate, but as you said - let's agree to disagree and get behind this. Wasn't me who brought it over to this thread.
