Marty from aimClear writes "One person’s defensive reputation management maneuver is another’s ghastly crises. In search marketing blogs and communities, social media reputation management experts inadvertently teach losers to build nightmarish nuclear bombs. It’s a nasty byproduct of the holistic work we do. However, to assume that only smiley-faced individuals harvest the reputation tips and tricks our community proffers would be incredibly naive."

it’s inevitable, whether right or wrong. it is a reality we have to face and adapt to accordingly. ethics, morals, and other arguments are not going to do us any good when it happens. we are all vulnerable.

i know several people who have had it done to them, and sometimes it’s top bloggers doing it, to keep others "down". If something analogous happened in the real world, there’d be a lot of fisticuffs.
