Submitting your link bait using a very weak account on social voting or news sites will not allow you get the prominence you deserve. Re-submission or re-insertion of link baits and valuable content into the social community gives your website a second chance. Didn’t make it big before? Now you have another shot.

This is definitely something that people overlook a lot. Also, if something doesn't work on one site, it might be perfect for another (or you can make it be)...

It's encouraging to read that, I have a number of posts that could be resubmitted because at the time I didn't have the connections to get them popular. However, finding social sites that have a demographic that are OK with old posts could be tough.

As I've mentioned in the article itself. Don't submit news-y posts on topical or current events. There are older stuff submitted to Digg and Reddit everyday. Most other social sites accept that as well as long as the piece is well done.

Some link baits are 'timeless' as well. Applications, quizzes, tools, games, plugins, pictures etc.
