The concept is great but the video doesnt quite do it for me. The "death" thing turned me off (even though its a spoof). If I were doing something expected to go viral, Id check some peoples reactions first.
Right, I had a feeling that might be an issue as well. Still, I thought the concept was worth discussing. And its why I made sure the title and description of the sphinn didnt mislead anyone.
I enjoyed the video - nicely done!
And its why I made sure the title and description of the sphinn didnt mislead anyone. What a concept...letting people know something is a spoof! :DSphunn for the discussion, havent watched the video yet.
I wonder what Jill is referring to ....hmmm :DI was also kinda put off by the killing part... dunno..
It probably would have been less off-putting if a fake name had been used - such as Pat Clutz instead of Matt Cutts. Im sure next time hell consider that aspect before he makes another spoof video, but if you can get past that aspect, its pretty cute.FYI - Id be the first person to be crying my eyes out if Matt so much as hurt his toe. I like the guy a lot, and Im sure Dave does too.
I dont think the video is edgy enough to go wildly viral. It is clever, but lacks the sensationalism that drives viral. The humour is also a little too subtle for mass audience methinks. What it really needs is some 13 year olds and hookers... :)
Off-topic linkbait - I have no issue with it other than the fact that Matt has actively encouraged it in the past. James - one little thing; I actually think theres a difference between linkbait & viral, and this will probably work for the former but not, as you say, for the latter (simply because there arent enough people who know who the hell Matt Cutts is). Ceilings for success in linkbait tend to be much lower than those for viral marketing (especially video.)
Thanks for your all your comments.I guess I was a little surprised to see that the SMX Advanced conference didnt have Oatmeal (Matt Inman) speaking on the "Blow Your Mind Link Building Techniques". I really thought that Matts Widgets Gone Wild post was the definition of Blow your Mind link building, so I thought it would be fun to put together another spoof video.I have been doing some training videos for another one of my sites, and I wanted to try out a new editing technique that I used in this video. I really had fun with it but I can see how people took exception to my odd sense of humor.I think Donnas idea of using Pat Clutz was brilliant.
Really I found good comments here, but I have to do link building for few sites,so how can we get relevant content site links..Have you any idea?
