Makes sense -- as the economy tightens, more businesses turn to the "free" leads they can get from organic search instead of big advertising buys.

Yes, but - what pay is being offered? I think that will shed a lot of light on the realities of the SEO job market, namely that a lot of companies think that someone with specialist SEO, link dev, web dev, and social media specialities under their belt can be bought for a £20k/year salary.

SEO salaries at agencies can start at under £20k, rising to about £30k for SEOs with a few years experience. SEOs with more than 5 years experience could earn up to £40k. Those with management experience and even more years of SEO could get a salary of £65k+benefits working as an SEO Director. Even though I am not on the market, I still get calls from recruitment agencies, wanting to interview for the top roles.
