When this blog was about 6 months old, I considered turning it into an industry news blog or even setting up another one that only covered the latest information. The reason I’m telling you that is because one of the reasons I wanted to start a news blog was to get listed in Google News, counter productive I know. Firstly I’m going to look at one example of huge traffic from the source and then tips to get yourself included.

Yes, BUT - this is another potential example of traffic for traffic's sake.

What did those people searching Google for Facebook actually do on the client site?

Googe News can be tremendous driver of traffic. I've worked with a startup that now drives tens of thousands of Google News referrals per month.

It seems comments like this are common for my last 2 blog posts. You guys need to remember that traffic is not all about getting something like RSS subscribers.

I wouldn't say this is traffic for traffics sake, people were clicking through to news on the site and finding a relevant article. If it helps, a few of our clients get paid via advertisers on the number of impressions their ads receive (nothing to do with us), and of course it is always great for branding.
