While I don’t expect either of our viewpoints will change, I have to say I find the disclosure that Google will now be taking steps against hoax marketing an amusing bit of hypocrisy. What we have is another in long list of double standards and selective application of Google justice especially when it involves internet marketers or SEO’s.

The story on money.co.uk still ranks #1 for many terms including "13 year old steals credit card to buy hookers"... so where again is the hypocrisy? If anything, this is Google’s proactive attempt to keep information in its index useful and legitimate before SEOs go crazy making up false stories as linkbait..

There’s a difference between a hoax and deception, imo.

Which is worse? Google’s so-called FUD campaign or propaganda war waged by a segment of the SEO industry to exploit people’s fears to market themselves?Google is hypocritical - I’ve heard that from Graywolf about a hundred times since 2007. First, so what? You’re telling me the SEO industry isn’t hypocritical? Big deal. Hypocrisy is everywhere. Get used to it. Second, don’t you get tired of saying the same shit over and over and over again? Lastly, when are people going to drop the holy-than-thou attitude? You’re tellin me Google is immoral and the SEO industry’s got a spotless track record? Yeah I get it - you gotta choose the right targets to attack to build mindshare. Tell me, is it working?Come on man...you’re a smart guy I’m sure you got better things to blog about.

Halfdeck, Google is a single entity, the SEO industry is not. Yes, there are many SEO’s who fit the description you stated, but none of them have the power to delist sites and destroy businesses on a whim, or are valued in the billions based on rep alone, or, for that matter, large enough to possibly be concerned with breaking anti-trust laws.If you’re gonna whine and moan about Gray’s holier than thou attitude, then show where *he* is immoral, not some annonymous people in the industry.

"Yes, there are many SEO’s who fit the description you stated, but none of them have the power to delist sites and destroy businesses on a whim"Jeez man, are you done whining and moaning about Google’s hypocrisy and overabundance of power? I didn’t say the SEO industry was immoral, did I? I said the SEO industry doesn’t have a spotless track record. We’re all in glass houses and we keep throwing stones and making a mess.
