Great article - we're safe unless of course they outsource to another economy...hmm India?
I'd like to think this is the case, but I'm afraid the root causes of our economic instability as of late outweigh the possible positive impact of SEM. At some level the demand for just about every service is beginning to falter as consumers just have less in their pockets. Less money is being spent across the board - even the businesses that are doing a good job of marketing online are going to feel that.
Smaller pie, smaller slice (even if it's the BIG slice).
SEM alone can't save the economy...I think the best we're going to do is save ourselves.
@ Brick - Yes some have raised the question of outsourcing (on the blog). Outsourcing can work to spur the US economy as well is it keeps companies solvent.
@ Mike - Agreed, SEM "alone" can't save the economy, but if you are in the business, it can fix your personal economy which is one component if fixing the overall economy. Trust me, I could go on and on about wastefulness, and other careless acts that contribute to the demise of the economy, but it's just not the right forum. For now, I am focusing on how SEM can help companies. I venture to say there are many companies that have gone, or will go, out of business where a few more clients could have made the difference.
I agree with Shana on what she have said in SU..if SEM can't help improve our economy then for sure it can help your own personal economy..^^
And what happens if the republicans start using PPC etc - then the economy is doomed
