I recently came across a document which highlighted a SEO strategy for a major UK based company. Now for legal reasons I can’t mention which company it is but they
are huge in the UK and their industry is insurance.

I dunno if I would classify that as blackhat as such, building out your site into a network of individual sites is something I do quite often and is something that everybody should be persuing. Would have been nice if more details of this document were included in the post, if these people are competing with your clients you have an obligation to taint the reputation of any competitors.

Especially if you believe they aren't playing inside of the rules.
