Am I writing hundreds of words without saying anything of value to my audience? Maybe its time for some of you to ask yourselves such question. After recently visiting several blog (also those of few popular names :-)), I have noticed some blogs which have lost their energy and are showing the followings symptoms of dying blogs:

- Discussing topics which are already well covered on blogs and forums.
- Writing about subjects which don’t interest your audience. Therefore you notice no comments or very few comments from your audience about what you write.
- You keep repeating yourself.
- You keep repeating what "popular names" wrote on their blogs and forums.

The question is; why some of you folks keep your dying blogs? Wouldn’t it be of more benefit for you and your business to spend your time on something more fruitful?

Some blogs, and they know who they are, don’t respect their readers enough to even answer simple questions or comments posted by their readers. People tend to get sick of being treated that way and move on eventually. If all you want to do is post items and not interact with your crowd do us all a favor and turn off comments or move to another platform that is just a simple website.

I agree with John - that’s one of my pet peeves. I also leave comments with other blog readers in mind, so I don’t necessarily take offense that a blogger doesn’t respond, but sometimes I do like to hear a blogger’s response to my comments, especially after he/she posts a controversial link bait.

Yep, I hate recycled news on blogs too, that’s boring like publishing press releases. As for commenting, replying to a few every once in a while should be doable for every blogger. Also, a blog should offer an option for commenters allowing them to follow further comments via email.

This has been a problem for many blogs for some time. Especially those that read something on Problogger or Johnchow.com and then go and write an article about it, when everyone else has already read it.

I personally try to reply to all comments. Not trying to imply that the remarks above are focused at me. I hope....

> I hope... You bet. I mean not. Fishing tidbits in forum threads is not recycling news. Although I gave up on commenting at SEL coz it seems something triggered the spam filter, prolly my old blogspot URL.

I can attest to the fact that Rustybrick does indeed reply all the time and engage in discussion in his writings! So does Sebastian for that matter as well.
