One man's conspiracy is another's entertainment - truth?? bah humbug
SNIP - Almost all smaller websites/services will disappear over time and multinationals who are used to using big budgets to brute force their content into every media outlet will finally be able to approach the internet in the same way.

as was pointed out to me, will it matter since the world is ending in 2012 anyways?
it is? well thank goodness for that... can't say I'd want to live in a world with an internet as described in that video... whew...
these guys have been drinking to many cafe lattes. I think the ISPs of the world would be hard pressed to push plans like this with the existance of Google and Microsoft, and those companies constant lust for online media supremacy. Pretty interesting theory though. I am sure it has been talked about, but what it is the feasibility.
That was my thinking Dave.... it would take one helluva coup to pull it off. All it takes is a few players to offer the 'old fashion' access model and it all falls apart. They sure seem passionate about it at least... Link Bait? Or temporary insanity? he he...
If it's true, scary times lie ahead - The last few freedoms we still have can be snapped away uncontested with such ease.
If it's false then it's a great piece of linkbait. Was Lyndon wielding the camera? ;)
Great find, Dave.
NP swags.... I StumbledUpon it actually and thought it conversation-worthy at very least. They sure seem to be a serious bunch with it.... Personally, I can't see it, but it is still worth putting out there....
I can't believe anyone still give credibility to those freakos. I must admit they know how to get some attention, but do some research about them, they have less credibility than Fox News
I agree, it has legs, but looking at the 'channels' you can lease in the different tiers, the majority of it is related to 'search'. Umm, last time I checked, search engines need something to search. If you take away all the other sites, what is the point of paying monthly to use google, yahoo, msn and others.
This is good linkbait that makes all of us stop and realize how dependent we are on the internet.
Of course, it seems quite a bit is ending in the year 2012:
http://www.google.com/search?q=the+end+2012
This would completely utterly and totally destroy Google's business model. They'd never do it. You wouldn't be able to access their ads. Or for that matter, more than the 60 sites to search.
On a side note, does anyone know where they got whatever they're smoking?
Other incredible linkbait appearance by (especially the girl) include her offering to give blowjobs to get elected to public office, and offering to have sex with virgins who support net neutrality.
No, I'm not kidding.
See.... and folks get bitched up about so called 'fake' stories... sigh... so much crap around... As for what they're smoking, drop me yer addy and I will send U a special package... ha ha ha
Are you guys seriously buying into this video? These kids are scammers just looking fro YouTube traffic. Look at the tags of the videos...DUH. I have seen these guys on videos in other locaiton bragging baout beating people on World of Warcraft. All they are out to do is gain YouTube views and they are succeeding with these types of spins.

LOSERS!
Hey guys,
Can you define net neutrality for me, as you see it? I think that Google's Net Neutrality stance is bogus.
Alright, heres one I have to comment on, anything is possible in this world....
(...and note that this comes from the vision of a US professional, this may not or may not apply worldwide, obviously there are different freedoms/restrictions elsewhere in the world)
First, lets look at a short history of television and see how far its come to get to where it is...
At first media companies were small businesses themselves, they only got this far by proving themselves to the world and now are in a position to offer such reality to the theory noted, and is further backed by the fact that most small businesses can't afford to advertise on television, especially national tv, and thank you to google for working to offer a solution to this.
Next, lets look at the internet itself, and I am talking about the actual source of the content providers that own the roads of the internet, I am talking about tier one network companies. (Satellite internet, mobile broadband, etc, all access the actual the hardwired internet to deliver content for those of you who didn't know.) Theoretically, such a filtering method for limiting access to the internet the way this theory provides is possible, you have China filtering the internet in this way, so we know that its possible. But the idea that the rest of this world would follow this model, very unlikely, and here's why:
These tier ones that control the intenet make too much money from the companies
that provide hosting services, domain names, and even the many ISPs underthem. There is a reason that this generation has seen more millionaires than ever in history, and its not just because the population has increased. Also, the subscription services that these theorists show I could see being tried a model in some areas, but the idea would quickly fail. And furthermore to see collaboration by telecommunication companies with Cable ISPs with agencies that provide powerline with Satellite companies with other internet providers not likely.
Finally, HERES A REALISTIC REALITY:
Just like the beginning of television, we are at a point where the internet is a near level playing field, anyone with a bright enough idea, enough smarts to go behind it, and most of all the motivation to make that dream a reality has a chance to become a great big success. But the time is nearing where only big businesses will be able to provide content that the majority watches, the cutting edge stuff. What you will see shortly is more CGI across the interent as bandwidth widens and better technologies become available. What you will see is these big companies providing content that dazzles us and is easily found on the net, leaving anyone with anything less left in the dust. I mean, sure I am all about supporting the small causes, but if something is better, then its obvoiusly more attractive to the masses. This is something we've seen in our society already, the small electronics shops being shut down by the Best Buy next door, the mom and pop convenience store replaced by a 7-11, its inevitable. So no, the internet won't go away in 2012, but it will be hard to keep up by then. Thanks to writer of this sphinn, you just took away a topic I was going to enlighten on in the futrue! LOL! Who the hell am I?
A re-introduction coming soon...
Not sure if any one is following this anymore, but interesting related post over at slash dot...

Apparently some ISPs are ending access to alt.whatever usenet. While I think a lot of people don't use Usenet much anymore.. and Google pretty much co-opted usenet once they took over Dejanews... is this removal of access just a small salvo in the potential war that the 2012 video talks about?
