Quick fingers, planetc1. Beat me by one minute on this one.
Great article as usual from Adam. His last few blog posts have read like chapters in a book on Internet Marketing that would be a "must buy" for anyone interested in the topic.
thanks for the sphinn Mike. I got up early today and haven't had a drink yet. :)
Couldn't agree more with this post. Very nice work, Adam!
Sphunn for good points, though I stand by sculpting. My only issue:
maybe they want the contact page findable in Google
Just because it's nofollowed doesn't mean it's not going to get indexed. That's why blog spam still exists to the level it does. It gets you indexed. And how many other sites out there are going to even have that in the title? The company name in the domain? Opening up one or two powerful-ish links(I know, I know, straying from the template sucks) should be more than enough to rank it.
Some meaty discussion on nofollow today at SMX Advanced. Matt Cutts also mentioned that Google updated info about nofollow. Also nice things said about @SlightlyShadySEO from the platform and lots of acknowledgment from the crowd. Nice to see so many Sphinn people today.
Thanks for the sphinns and comments all!
@SlightlyShadySEO good point, I should change that in my post. It's not accurate to say "maybe the contact page should be findable in google" since as you point out, nofollowing at the link level is not the same as excluding the content.
Thanks, great ref to send all the nofollow wannabes to.
Good stuff, although I agree with Shady that there are some cases where no-follow sculpting is worthwhile.
As with most things, it's all about ROI? If you had to choose between link sculpting, new content, or link-building link sculpting will almost always lose out.
But we all know that decisions aren't always so black and white.
These are great points on why no follow attribute is a bad idea for your blog or site.
Wow, he really brings up some good points in that post. For sure gonna make my roundup for the week.
Sorta on the fence about this one though. I like to control the flow, but I try not to get obessive about it.
