I found reports of Google not crawling many sites due to a DNS issue. It appears, but has not yet be verified, that the DNS issue is on the Google side. Where GoogleBot thinks a URL is not there, when in reality, it is.

Have you seen anything remotely similar recently?

Just in case people read this, but not the actual story, I’ll sort of repeat my comment here. Back on the 8th, I noted on Scoop that there’d been a Google ripple on the 7th. (In that Google groups thread, the earliest date I saw that this DNS incident happened was the 6th). Coincidentally, the one site that I know of that lost rankings on the 7th, also shows this DNS problem in webmaster console. Could this issue have caused sites to lose rankings? I’m thinking maybe so. If so, Google needs to fix ASAP.
