Well argued in the comments by Guardian author, but the angle of many recent UK media articles has appeared to focus heavily on the black-hat side of SEO instead of painting a true picture.

There do seem to be an unusual number of BH or ex-BH SEOs in the UK. I'm not quite sure why this is. Maybe Brits don't follow the morality arguments or maybe there are stronger technical skills over there?

In any case they seem to be getting results, as even taking on board the difference in living costs, wages in the UK are far higher than the US.
