Rand lets off about paid links:
"This perfectly explains why you have to discount perturbances like paid links. Make it about the business, and the business owners and operators in the room will respect you. Make it about the lack of morality among SEOs and you build grudges, animosity and spite"

Very good, intelligent post, though I think the plea "be transparent" is hopeless as it goes totally against Google’s way of thinking. Wherever their troops are engaged in battle with the "enemy" (they must perceive it in such dramatical fashion, hence the religious, moralizing aspect they add to the issue), they have no time for such niceties.

Rand pretty much sums up my exact feelings on the subject as well as commenting on the kind of areas I’ve been asking Big G to address for some time now specifically the transparency issue and the use of a more regulated/visible penalty notice from them. Good stuff.
