I find myself searching for Phone numbers when I am trying to recover some infromation about a business, specifically in Local Search when SMBs URLs arent always intuitive or I need to get dirving directions. SEOing for Phone numbers would allow a local directory to get their advertisers infront of people looking for a specific business, maybe even educate a site user on alternatives to whom they are searching. the local seo guide strikes again with a salient tip.
Hi Andrew,This has been on my mind too. Ive seen it done few times and have recommended it for clients as well.Check out http://www.yellowbook.com/5137711441/empress/ and youll see this is the phone number in the URL. I think like zip codes, phone numbers are really important. My suggesion is to have the URL formula like an address. So for the above URL I would suggest revising it to be:http://www.yellowbook.com/Empress-Food-Products/Cincinnati-Ohio/Telephone-5137711441Great post, more of this please my good man!Marc Phillipshttp://www.searchforecast.com
phone number in url, very cool technique. would a zero at the end screw that up? Did read the full .0 post yet.
three cheers for usefulness
What are the stats for people using phone numbers in a search? I have never done it, but that doesnt necessarily mean anything.
