Why market to the teenagers who are fickle and only care about you as long as you’re the latest trend? These new social networking sites target the older crowd that us much more likely to stick with a site once they start using it.

Interesting. I went to the one in the article for my age, and though very nice, I felt like a stranger. I like Facebook and Sphinn because industry peers, who are often also friends, are there. They know me when I walk into the room. That same feeling doesn’t happen with the other SN sites. However, for people who want to mingle and meet others in their age bracket, it’s good to know there’s a house for them.

"That same feeling doesn’t happen with the other SN sites. However, for people who want to mingle and meet others in their age bracket, it’s good to know there’s a house for them." I had lunch with an "industry colleague" today. He’s a friend I actually met through Digg, then Facebook, and then Twitter. I know that he’s one of those people who would feel quite at home in this kind of neighborhood, though I can’t envision it myself.
