"Seems like Google has joined the forces with Barack Obama campaign"

Very wise decision, indeed :-)

Are we still in America? Or is this Nazi Germany in 1940?

Well, the blog was temporarily closed from having new posts so Google could investigate a spam report. That's much different than it being closed because it was anti-Obama. It might be that someone who is pro-Obama is reporting a number of anti-Obama blogs this way. If so, that's an issue -- but it's still not the same as screaming censorship.

"All other things being equal, the simplest solution is the best."

Most likely explanation is that other pro-Obama supporters reported this blog as spam and the wheels got put in motion. The owner responded to the email and the site was reactivated (it's online again now). Where's the story?

You also need to take into consideration that an individual Google employee may have been biased due to his own political convictions. That should not happen in any corporation no matter which side you may take politically, but it does happen, especially in a heated election year.
