That example about the guy transcripting Youtube videos is crazy. You almost have to hand it to the guy for ingenuity

Recently recorded a call (they called a marketing line) from a telemarketer that wanted $1800.00 per month to rank my site #1 for an industry keyword. Claimed they "worked for" Google.

Nice post - horrible headline. I’m guessing that Todd doesn’t live in Italy. (And yes, I realise it’s a song title, but it has a different meaning in the context of the song)

The example of the guy using transcription on videos is not a scam (though his implementation could use tweaking). In advanced video SEO you will see that method used as well as using image recognition, text in image recognition and celebrity recognition - to name a few - technologies to give context to the content of the video to make it more search engine friendly. Maybe some more research was needed on that before calling it a scam....

This might be better talking about ’SEO consultants’, not ethical SEO’ers.  I do SEO, consider myself ethical, and could care less about all those douchebag tactics others are using.  The article applies to those selling their SEO services.  The rest of us don’t really care what others are doing.

*** SEO scammers generally offer their services at a much lower price point than honest operators ***... really?   Some of the worst offenders are also very expensive.
