TechCrunch is reporting that an offline GMail client is in the works, using the Google Gears technology which lets Google reader go offline as well.

While Google has denied they are building competition to the highly profitable Microsoft office one by one that’s exactly what they are doing.

We need a rumor for this? I mean, wasn’t it obvious when they rolled out Google Gears that Google apps of all types would become offline enabled? Reader was just the start.

This would make sense: The Mozilla Foundation, significantly funded by Google, wants to ditch their Thunderbird Mail Client: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/mitchell/archives/2007/07/email_futures.html As a happy Thunderbird user, I must admit my unhappiness at this development.
