Ok, if it makes sense for you, then don't bother reading just another post telling you how great it is to sign up under the author's ID. Here's my signup link:

http://www.blogrush.com/r15475827

Now everybody should add his link in the comments. This way the new list stays clean and everybody can choose where to sign up without wasting time on every blog out there.

Would someone explain to me how this is something other than your basic pyramid scheme?

Too funny, I must say I agree with Shana, hers is the hottest one so far, something about the way those two "3"s are just snuggled up against eachother. :)

Great idea Sebastian

Probably the unknown is a huge owed-impressions queue.

You know what Qwerty, I was sort of thinking how it might work in practice too.

Whose links get put on the backburner 1st? If it's a one for one deal where one impression from a sign up gets you one impression on the network plus the cascade effect of everyone else who signs up then...where's the room for everybody elses impressions I wonder?

In my defence it is Sunday evening and I am feeling a little thick in the work it out dept :D

I still think it has the potential to be a good thing though, well worth a shot in my book :)

Dang, I can't play; I don't have one yet!

Maybe I should announce a contest: Give me a deep link by Wednesday, for a chance to have me pick YOUR blogrush link.

Call me silly...but I don't understand how this puppy works. Could somebody please explain for the uninitiated?

You sign up and add the widget to your blog. It contains links to ostensibly related posts on other blogs with the widget, and a sign-up link. Any time you display the widget, one of your posts will appear on someone else's widget. If someone signs up after clicking the link on your widget, then every time one of their posts appears on anyone's widget, so does one of yours. If anyone joins from their widget, you also get credit.

So the idea is that you start at a 1:1 ratio of displays and links, but the more people who sign up through you, the more links to your blog are going to appear.

There are apparently ten levels, but obviously the earlier you get in on it, the better your chances of getting people to sign up under you.

Hence, my belief that it's a pyramid scheme, but I'm open to anybody explaining to me how I'm wrong about that.

Thanks all, but more folks must sign up under my link above to increase traffic on my blog significantly. Got my first referrer from weightlossinfo.us blog, so the darn thing can send traffic but needs to work on the relevance thingy. :)

Mine comes with leather interior and low fuel consumption...

Anyway, BlogRush is a great viral marketing case study, as I just posted on internetinfluencemagic.com but can't Sphinn 'cos I'm guessing the word "BlogRush" has been barred. Spoil sports!

As for "pyramid scheme"... it's actually built on a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) model. The only reason certain pyramid and MLM models are illegal is because recruitment often becomes the main monetary incentive, to the detriment of those at the bottom of the pyramid.

No money changes hands with BlogRush, so there is no financial loss for people at the bottom. They just get less traffic. Ya, boo!

Which is why you'll want to sign up under MEEEE :) lol

Will people who hop on fast get all that much more traffic? I think they will in the short run. But in the long run, those who get little traffic will remove the sidebar hogging widget, right?

In the long run, everyone will get about the same amount of traffic as each other.

I'm not suggesting it is or even should be illegal; just that, like a pyramid scheme, the real benefits go to the early adopters, and the most benefit is likely to come to those who make more of an effort of recruiting underlings than writing great blog posts.
