Just look at this guy’s Wikipedia page. "Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Search engine optimization. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product."

Good case study of how not to spam wikipedia.You can get away with murder on wikipedia if you (i) don’t leave unnecessary footprints and (ii) don’t annoy people,  and (iii) have a little luck.  (i) and (ii) help you get (iii)

I’m surprised Jason, or Great Mans Job, hasn’t signed up for Sphinn under multiple aliases and voted everyone down the way he thumbed down comments on SEOmoz initially.This Wiki interchange is good drama but scary. It appears he has deified himself. And, come on people, it’s apparent that we need to "take in to consideration the enormity of what is taking place and become part of history!" He’s so full of himself and apparently believes it. Jason to Wikipedia, "I DON’T GET IT IF YOU WANT GREAT CONTENT WHY DO YOU INSIST ON DELETING THE BEST PARTS?"

If he wasn’t such a doofus, he would have partnered with someone knowledgable to monetize on his momentum. Seems like he’s a kid playing around having a great old time rather than looking at the market. I remember wanting to interview him for searchfeature but he played cat and mouse and I got tired of it eventually and noticed he just likes attention for the cheap thrill.

I think we are the real doofuses.  Neither SEMPO nor any other industry association has stepped forward to oppose this trademark application.  The task has fallen to a few individual SEOs.  Our industry is poorly organized and does a bad job of protecting our interests.  SEMPO needs to get on the ball, or we need to create a stronger organization.
