These are some great tips and before implementing any of them, I'd put at #1 the task of defining the goals and specific purpose of the blog. What is the brand message? Who is the intended audience and what exactly do you want them to do?

It's tough to create a blog exit strategy when you don't have a blog entrance strategy.

Good article. There is a lot to do to get a blog popular and it can seem daunting. Especially someone just starting up and posting part-time. Everything can be done if it is just broken-up into smaller chunks done everyday.
