Ann Smarty discusses sites that offer anyone anonymously to post a rant on other people or companies - be it a former boyfriend or a place of work. For some reason these services keep popping up quickly and that’s a complex question if that’s for good or worse.

WOW! Ann’s posts is also a study on human relations. Maybe people will start thinking about their actions and have more accountability knowing their reputations are online. People should use these sites for due diligence before dating, applying for a job, hiring, etc. What a resource for employers to find out what type of person one really is by using these sites as pre-screening...and for women to find out about what a guy is really like.Would be great to see more sites about praising others and showing appreciation. Great post!

Who needs a nice chat over dinner to get to know someone when you can read fair and balanced reviews written by their exes right after they broke up? LOL

I linked to this in a thread at Cre8asiteforums since it fits a topic on ethics we have there.I do feel sick to my stomach however.  So sad...sites whose sole intent is to hurt people.

These sites are fundamentally a bad idea, but I understand the motivation at the same time. Who hasn’t had a terrible experience and wanted to post it somewhere? We have the power to do so: we walk out of a shitty restaurant and write it up on Twitter, at the very least. Most of us have blogs. The general population doesn’t, and if they do, those blogs likely rank for nothing (if they’ve even been indexed.)I lived with a flatmate from hell for a year and I know I could own the SERPs for her name. I am aware, however, that I shouldn’t do it, and I won’t. But I’d be lying if I said I’d never found the idea appealing.

these sites are too easily swayed in terms of libelous threats... however.. the best way to get a  person back is to set up a fake email and make about 15 - 20 dating profiles and include their facebook/myspace profile.. etc..
