Do not click BlogRush affiliate links before you’re fully awake. If you follow the crowd:
1. You won’t get free targeted traffic to your niche blog.
2. You’ll make other people rich.
3. You’ll piss off your readers.
4. You’ll promote BlogRush and get nothing in return.
5. You shouldn’t trust a site fucking up the very first HTTP request. ;)
6. Pyramid schemes just don’t work for you.
Am I dead wrong?

I love the influx of negative posts about BlogRush now. Look what they started :P

I’m just amazed at the number of people who fell for all the hype.

Unfortunately, the pyramid scheme may be a permanent fixture of humankind, I think falling for it is embedded in our genetic code. If it sounds too good to be true...

It seems that I made the right choice of staying away from the rush LOL ;-)

You know what it feels like... it feels like when I was a teenager in the late 90s and saw all these AllAdvantage affiliate links.

I actually did not watch "the video", as I like to have a bite of any system that comes along. I quite liked the idea of displaying the headlines of others within my niche and didn’t take notice of the pyramid concept. Now I understand that is why most people are joining and may have already found a way to exploit the system.

And on top of it there system is broken. I just tried adding my Photography BLOG Feed, and errored saying there were no posts in the feed. Meanwhile there are 10 posts, and W3 Validates it as being a valid feed. I guess they have a bit of work to do before they can get rid of the Beta in their logo :)

Well Ive given it 48 hours thus far, Im still waiting for the stats and...heck it took me seconds to slap the code in my site and it’ll take me seconds to slap it right out again. I think I’ll give it another 36 hours at least...;)

Tamar, I liked the flashback to AllAdvantage. Should we have a top 10 memorable online pyramid schemes? AllAdvantage, Agloco, BlogRush...

How many sites offer their feed in a widgetbox? Other than offering content, what benefit does that give a site? Maybe you have a blogroll ( link exchange) - do you receive much traffic from those links (well unless your site begins with the letter "a" ;) ) With a typical pyramid scheme, the person at the top gets to keep a fat slice. I believe that in this case the credits above the pyramid / matrix will be shared out, and lots of high traffic sites are on the top row. If that traffic is shared out evenly, the low traffic blogs receive a disproportionate share. Where it does fall down is when people promote it with no widget showing, or where they remove it later, but it would be easy to program that their credits get redistributed if they are not also dislaying the widget. It might not work, but I have had 70+ visitors so far over 3 days that I wouldn’t have otherwise received. For blogs which dont receive Digg traffic that is actually quite decent. Damn you just had your 50,000 visitors from Digg which turned into 10 subscribers. You also get 500 targeted visitors for that traffic from Blogrush which you turn into 10 or 20 subscribers. You might have the content of some less prominent sites appear on your site, but your content will also appear on theirs. I think they are allowed a little time to get their content matching working a little better. Certainly all the sites I received traffic from were relevant, and I discovered a few were worthy of subscribing. Apparently there will be a way to allocate credits to certain sites in the future, at least that is what the video stated. Think of the arbitrage benefits.

Maybe I should RTFM, but it’s not all that important to me ... all I wanna know is -- Will I see BlogRush show up in my referrals, or will I see the site that my link appeared on? Please don’t make me RTFM. :) I’ve had an increase in subscribers and traffic since I put the code in on Sunday, FWIW.

>Maybe you have a blogroll ( link exchange) - do you receive much traffic from those links (well unless your site begins with the letter "a" ;) ) Not much traffic, but more than from blogrush and better targeted. Maybe blogrush can enhance the latter. Also, my links are hand picked. I’ve no assclowns on my blogroll, but in my blogrush widget. Currently my blog links out to URLs I wouldn’t even mention nor link to with nofollow crap applied. Of course I could disable a gazillion of get-rich-quick sites and whatnot at blogrush, but there would be more appearing in my widget before I can submit the list. But that’s not the point. Linking out to pages I would never endorse annoys me more than the lack of traffic. To attract 70 visitors I wouldn’t have seen otherwise I can write a post on my blog addressing exactly the crowd I want to reach, Google will deliver the hits for sure. I bet this traffic is better targeted than blogrush widget clicks. Andy I see where you come from and I respect and appreciate your marketing advice. I just can’t get that blogrush is for me. Over the decades I’ve learned that I can’t trust blogrush-ish salesmen trying to talk me into something I deeply distrust. Maybe I lengthen the probation period, though what I’ve seen so far drives me nuts.

MattMcGee - "Will I see BlogRush show up in my referrals, or will I see the site that my link appeared on? Please don’t make me RTFM. :)" All links are redirected via blogrush.com so tracking should be possible. I might check it out in a month or two once the content matching is working better and the stats are available but I doubt it.

I expect that in a month or so, the people who got in late will have dropped out, because they won’t have anyone under them. The people above them will consequently be getting less traffic from the widget because some of their underlings will be gone. I agree with Sebastian. My blogroll consists of sites I read and recommend. I would hate for one of my readers (either of them) to see a link, assume it’s something I recommend, and get crap, and with the widget, I can’t guarantee that that won’t happen.

Sebastian it wasn’t something specifically directed at you, but it seems there is an abundance of negative posts reaching the front page, which means I felt I needed to write something that covers other angles. If you have a made for digg site in the future you could direct the credits to your real estate site from what I can see, so as you get the traffic on a site that might not even have a widget. I know you are capable of knocking out front page Sphinn content with 30 minutes at the keyboard, but most bloggers out there are lucky to get 100 readers per day,... and then they put widgets from 4 blogs on their sidebar, and "What is your blog worth", that they are a "C list blogger", etc. Stats are now partially working already as you log in, though they suggest that accumulated credits from referrals have not been used yet. CTR is around 0.5% from the 6000 impressions they are showing I have earned - 40 free clicks have possibly therefore come from free credits above the pyramid. If those extra credits are being distributed evenly, for many smaller blogs that is pretty good. The widget isn’t really suitable for larger blogs unless they want to convert some social media traffic into something more targeted. Referrer links are in this format widget.blogrush.com/ box.php? f= 99999999 & url= http://urlhere

is this blogrush good or bad? I’ve seen it on almost ALL sites i’ve visited since its out. But with so many mixed reviews? who knows? My friend removed the blogrush widget from her site immediately after reading an article NOT IN FAVOR of Blogrush

*** All links are redirected via blogrush.com so tracking should be possible. *** *** Referrer links are in this format: widget.blogrush.com/box.php?f=99999999&url=http ://urlhere *** Uhhh. I really hope that isn’t a 302 redirect. Has anyone checked? Site doesn’t have any sort of robots.txt file to disallow redirected URLs from being spidered if they are found anywhere.
