This is some SHADY stuff. Apparently a ton of the .ME domains were purchased months ago.

In any Unix/Linux-based system, the date 1900-01-01 appears when the date field is blank, or zero. For some systems, the date 1900-01-01 represents Day Zero in the Unix/Linux epoch.

Interesting... still sucks that the domains got registered long ago but it is up to them to decide who can buy and when we suppose.

I’m going to be pedantic and point out that the Unix epoch is 00:00:00 UTC on January 1, 1970 not 1900. Obviously 1900-01-01 means something similar to GoDaddy’s registration system. They had a great opportunity with .me but they blew it, big time. I signed up for an account to pick up a couple of domains but now I definitely won’t be using GoDaddy again.
