Just finished reading Blogging Heroes by Michael Banks - great book, insightful commentary by top name bloggers... but I'm left wondering...

Do bloggers get the concepts behind monetization and the potential their traffic holds? I don't mean the small-time, new folks who want to get rich quick, I'm thinking the long term folks, with readership and the notion than making money from their blog is somewhat verboten... just cannot wrap my head around that. I respect them for their choice - if it was a choice - however.

Most in this book clearly DO understand their position, but the fact that monetization (and tactics like organic optimization) were not "settled" and clearly one sided (YES, I want traffic AND I want money.) got me thinking of the broader scope of blogging.

Damn, I might start a blog with no ads now... ;)
