brian carter writes "Everyone who has a persona in multiple social networks knows that:

1. Social media site profile pages show up in search engine searches for your persona username and/or real name
2. These pages can be valuable links to your other web properties
3. You should use a consistent name and avatar for both meme-power (mind share) and semantic weight- both for search engines and for brand momentum with your audience"

This is a great study, but what do you do after you've signed up with a couple different names and are unable to "unify?" It's too bad that so many sites don't enable you to change your social media profile name without loosing history by having to start a new profile. Hindsight is 20/20. Brian's study shows the importance of foresight and planning.
