It will most certainly affect the number of submissions, the quality of average submissions may actually go down. The one thing sphinn had going for it was the dofollow links.
well for guys who only submit their own blog links that don't go hot, yeah, this will suck.
"the quality of average submissions may actually go down"
If you stop submitting, the quality of average submissions may actually go up.

Wasn't even aware links got followed or not. Here for the community.
I hadn't realized the links were followed in the first place. Guess the change won't affect how I participate with Sphinn at all. If it helps prevent spam good.
I am glad. And I hope that they put up a BIG sign saying that "these linksare nofollowed. Dont bother spamming - its a waste of your 5 minutes"
... and a waste of our minutes reading. "
Nobody should care, its a community. The rel nofollow attribute is wisely use at long as the content is create by guest and sphinn can't double check each one of te submissions.
I looked through upcoming today and didn't see any obvious spam in the first few pages, so perhaps the tweak is having the desired effect.
I'd like to see a system where all links are nofollow until you get X Sphinns, at which point you not only get dofollow, but links on a couple other parts of the site as well. Kind of Sphinn's way of rewarding great content. I don't worry about link juice that much any more, but I do use links for index control on Google, this would be a nice feature if I ever write something wroth those X Sphinns :)

You were at least 6 hours too late. I tagged a dozen or more today, and I was first here several hours later than usual.
Back in Turkey there is a saying, the one that tells the truth gets kicked out of 9 villages. Were not the founders and moderators of this social bookmarking site the first ones to yell murder when Wikipedia put nofollow tags. Now tell me, did Wikipedia spam go down?????
Not a spammer just an observer of double standard. Bring on the negative votes. Another site victim to the nofollow trap.
