enough of this crap already, this is wasting time. You people must have plenty of it but I don't.

Nothing against Barry, he has a duty to cover the news, but IMHO better we stop this hitting the front page and let the issue blow over now.

in my opinion no reason this should make FP when the links in side already have or havent.

There are two many submits covering this same topic. Frankly, I think that most of them just want to write on something that will go hot.

There's not really a problem with the "industry", the problem is just between a few folks with egos the size of Texas. The rest of us, ie 99% of the industry, couldn't possibly care less about the pointless drivel that's been posted over the past few days.
Um didn't Donna already write this post? The post doesn't seem to be adding much.
Skitzzo, she did write a post and I linked to the discussion around her post.
But I would hope my adds a different flavor. Oh well, can't please them all. :)
Rusty, I didn't mean that you shouldn't have written the post or that you did anything wrong. I simply mean I don't see why we'd need to have this sphunn when the submission of Donna's piece is sitting on the front page.
Why split up the conversation into multiple places ya know?
Ah, got it. Yea, I did not submit this to sphinn nor did I ask for it to be submitted. So I got ya.
@Skitzzo - Can you clarify? I understand that dupe Sphinn's on the same topic are not encouraged but this is a case of two different stories on a similar topic written by two different people and submitted by two different people.
Barry's was in error because DD's went hot or because its a similar topic?
Just wanting to understand because Sphinn is filled with hundreds of articles on the same topics written by different people.
Same or similar story submitted twice?
I don't see that as an issue, when certain stories get submitted upwards of fifty times.
- Google Keyword Tool with Numbers.
- Yahoo vs. Microsoft.
- Twitter.
- Entrecard.
- JC.
etc.
More than three or four and it gets old very quickly.
as much as i think this story is nothing more then picking at a scab i will say this. if dupe or similar stories were not allowed on sphinn - this website wouldn't exist or it would be lite on content.
@cre8, I don't think Barry was at all in error. I just thought it didn't need to be sphunn. If Graywolf wrote a rant about Google and I then covered it on Gevil adding my perspective but essentially hitting on the same points, I wouldn't think mine would be valuable to sphinn if his had already gone hot and most people had been exposed to it.
The fact that this happens a lot on sphinn doesn't neccesarily mean that it should or that it's a good thing.
Again, I'm not saying Barry did anything wrong by writing the piece, he's supposed to cover the events that go on in the SEO community. I simply didn't think sphinn needed to cover that ground again.
I understand. Thank you :)
Tried to write this in desphinn but it wouldn't take:
Where's the sadness? A few crazies do their kook thing on some forums. Just another day in SEM.
^^ Hell Yeah Whalen!
Less angst more pointless bullshit! PLEASE!!!!!!
This post is taking up the room that a google knol post should be in!!!! More knol posts! Everyone - quick!!!!!!!
Personally, I wont be insulted if this is removed from Sphinn.
In regards to Jill... I obviously felt this was not just another day or week in the SEM industry. Maybe you are now aware of everything that is going on. I know you know a lot about a couple things but maybe not everything?
Some of the old battle royales from years past made for entertaining reading but this recent stuff seems more personal which is unfortunate.
Perhaps not, rustybrick. Feel free to enlighten me, I'm always up for the latest SEO gossip.
I don't buy that sentiment at all. You got a neverending need to write new content. A golden opportunity to make a non-news invent into a Hot News Submission on Sphinn, And, Presto! You got a new post to Submit. A little more honesty, please ...
Which sentiment is it that you're not buying John?
I am not sure what John is referring to also...
Jill, you know I am not going to gossip in a public forum. We can chat when you like, that is, if you are bored.
Barry, I guess really my point is that the threads you pointed to, didn't seem sad to me, they were discussions. Heated at times yes. Sad, no. Normal for most forums, SEO or otherwise.
Whatever might be going on behind the scenes is between whomever it's going on with. Not everyone who reads SEOroundtable (or Sphinn) would or should be aware of it. Just makes your post about it confusing, IMO, unless you were going to publically discuss what's so sad about it. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking you to, nor want you to do this!)
Or maybe I just need to reread those threads with a different eye.
Does any our there have any client work to do? Where do people get all of this free time? Go write a constructive blog post, post an ad for more work... do something productive. As I heard in a seminar a few weeks ago "busy does not mean productive" and I a KNOW that bantering back and forth on forums isn't productive.
One has to love the irony of your post, oldschool.
