So the Google-Digg deal that I predicted last week has been broken up. I asked for opinions from some of the most active SEO’s and SMO’s on Sphinn, a perfect intersection between search and social media. Will Google acquire Digg? Do you think it would beneficial or disastrous? How would it affect the Internet at large?

I think it would be a big waste of cash for Google to buy Digg. Digg’s best days are behind it. If Google wants some sort of social news voting they can do it better themselves with users that would be more profitable.

Lyndon Antcliff - "Google should buy Digg.com, destroy it and then set up an affiliate site for selling garden equipment on the domain."LOL! That was great.

@YoungMaster Love the quote by Lyndon and thanks for sharing it. Funny Stuff. I think Google should stay out of this one personally.

I don’’t think Google has the needs to acquire Digg..if they want to...they can build their own Digg..a better and well, cheaper that is.
