This one takes the words right out of my mouth. Im tired of trying to appease the Plurk gods every day. Who needs em?
Agree entirely, though ultimately (plurk) karma does nothing of any real value anyway.
Karma is completely useless in the Plurk system and hints to me that they aimed the system at a much younger demographic to Twitter. At best you get some smilies, given free with any copy of phpBB. You soon realise that any HTML code can actually be copied and pasted into the chatbox though, so why not hotlink your own images? I dont think this is the reason plurk isnt more successful though. The main one is that it is a chat rather than a messaging platform. No apps or reply notifications seperate this from Twitter - and not in a good way.
Yeah Nick, I agree that no apps is hurting them. They are now on Friend Feed so that is a move in the right direction. I actually prefer Plurk myself. Mostly because it is more conversational than Twitter.
I prefer plurk for the same reasons as you mpilatow.
Plurk would be so much better if the Karma score didnt hinder its functions for the users.
No time for plurkin, I got real work to do.
Plurk is only great for personal uses..but when it comes to business other sites are better.
I liked Plurk a lot the first few days but like Twitter I got bored of it really fast.
I agree with Nick completely. Karma and its "benefits" (emoticons) seem to demonstrate they were aiming the product at teens. The colours and interface verify this suspicion for me.

"Interesting observation. Maybe they were. Still, I find it a great community building tool and I hate the Karma concpet. That on top of Plurks recent quirks dont do it for me as much, but I still love the community therein.
I agree Tamar. I havent abandoned it because of the community building and networking element. Plus, it can be fun.I guess the trick is to just ignore the high maintenance karma algo...
