Note that if your tech savvy you can also make it VERY easy to upgrade your Wordpress by installing it with Subversion (SVN). When I update workpress I do it with one key command: "SVN up" and that is all.
Gotta love plugin lists with actual useful plugins on them
After fooling around with WordPress for what has seemed to be a couple of years, I really cannot say that most plugins are helpful at all. My FREE WordPress blogs are doing better than my paid one. WordPress wont let the free bloggers add plugins at all.
What all these plugins really do is dream up more reasons to avoiding dealing with the main issue of writing new posts.
How are lpugins not helpful John? I really dont see how you explain that in your post. Comparing the success of hosing on the WP server or on your own really is not being discussed here.
I also have no idea why you think plugins replace posts.

Using Cross Linker with Go Codes sounds interesting. Anyone tried that yet?
