If you run an eCommerce site, submitting it to coupon code directories is a wise promotional method you might want to consider. Building links in this fashion cannot help but build a successful campaign.

It is a good article and a solid idea, but any decent eCommerce site is going to have an affiliate program, and coupon sites would be in the affiliate manager's domain - not the SEOs - nine times out of ten.

That's a good list there. It's not always easy to convince businesses new to e-commerce to launch an affiliate program because they worry about the associated costs.

@everett- That's the way it is for us.

BUT in the long run we're trying to add assests to push coupon sites and affiliates off page one, we rather not give up those marketing and margin dollars.

Still a good idea for most smaller brands.

This is also quite useful from a reputation management standpoint. Sites like MyCoupons are 10 year old hardcore authorites, and profiles & coupon offers do make their way into natural branded results. So, in some cases, clients would much rather see a basic coupon in the top 3 pages of branded results than a complaint.

Especially if the coupon will lead to a sale and the complaint has the chance of taking it away or diverting it to a competitor.
