This article is a good example why total number of backlinks reported by Yahoo should not be taken at face value - at the very least number of external domains linking to that site should be checked and better actually to see what are those domains. Our stats allow us to look at this full picture in detail with ease.

I think that before buying any domain, you should ask for Google Webmaster Central access and look at the link portfolio as well, since GWC reports more links that Yahoo Linkdomain usually.
