Wise words from Lee. For niche markets not yet caught up on RSS, rss to email apps can do wonders in delivering fresh daily content.

Good point. 

There's a reason for the continued attention to email marketing from conferences and clients alike. It's one of the biggest returns on marketing dollar investment whether used as a CRM or a straight out sales tool. It can also be leveraged for SEO benefit which is another post entirely.

Email is actually better for blogs as well, even in the blogging niche. Email is more responsive, Email you can give incentives & bonuses to securely, email is private, email can be split test, email is probably more likely to be read (I have no data on that)

Great tips!  I like the one on putting images in the email - I had not thought of that.  I will have to try it.
