Oops, got the 404 page clicking on the link in SEL's frame.
404 again, so it fails when there aren't any comments, and when there's one comment.
I'm getting an iframe with "Oops, what you're looking for isn't here!" I think this idea is great and can't wait until its up and running fully.
I'm also geting a 404 and the link to the profile point toward a parked page (spinn instead of sphinn)
I wanted to comment on http://searchengineland.com/070924-082559.php but when I try that, it wants me to submit the story to Sphinn as a new topic.
However, the topic is already discussed at: http://sphinn.com/story/6594 so no new submit is necessary. How to link topics? Conundrum!
Seems to be working now - I was actually hoping for something more seamless than a frame but at least this ties the two locations for comment/discussion together.
Yep, spotted an error if you click on the click here link before there are comments. Working on fixing that later today.
@g2smd, while the topic is already on the site, the particular story from SEL is not. So yes, you would have to submit. That's fine -- people often submit different version of a similar story. It remains up to the Sphinns received to decide if they go hot.
One thing we'll be watching is to make sure that SEL stories aren't somehow overwhelming What's New. To date, that's not been the case. I think you're going to see a few more than normal get submitted, but it should still be down to those that someone decides makes sense for comment.
@Sergi, do you know what page you got that error on?
Cheers Danny. I am wary of creating duplicates when discussion is already in full flow.
Keep those new features coming!
@Danny, in the "Reader Comments" frame on SEL pages, when you click on the name, you're redirected to :
http : // spinn.com/user/view/profile/dannysullivan instead of
http://sphinn.com/user/view/profile/dannysullivan
Yup, seems buggy. I am sure they will figure it out... Ill report the issues.
Thanks, Sergi. Ooops! We'll fix that.
This is a much needed addition to SEL. I'd prefer a much tighter integration than an iframe, though. Hopefully your developers will find time to implement an API and allow for more flexibility.
Quite possible the worst comment system I have ever seen. The site developers should be ashamed.
And there was me thinking I could finally comment on SEL...
Ah well, maybe one day we'll see a Wordpress install there ... :)
