Better late then never, which is just about how long it takes to get listed in the DMOZ directory! Maybe now they will start on the backlog of submissions.
Thousands of sites are added every week, and thousands more are edited or updated.
Yawn. Does anyone really care?
My apologies, this has already been Sphunn by g1smd at: http://sphinn.com/story/6873
And David, I care if they can revive themselves or at least help us get through all the talk that has been going on about them.
They've had the http://www.resource-zone.com for years as a way to provide information and communicate with webmasters and that hasn't done any good. I don't see how a blog is going to improve matters.
The best thing that can happen to DMOZ is for it to be sold to someone who would monetize it and then run it properly.
David,
I agree. Ive been to that resource board, what a joke. Here's all the info you get there:
1. No, we cant tell you if your site has been reviewed.
2. No, we cant tell you if your site has been rejected.
3. Submit your site once and forget about it, Good Luck.
The above 3 responses come from some snotty editor who really doesnt give a crap about you or your site.
It will be interesting to see what the blog has to offer, besides pissed off publishers who cant get their sites listed...
Its time Google saw this directory for what it really is...
Hello again David,
I have to be sheepishly honest when I say that I just discovered that site moments before I noticed your comment. A co-worker pointed it out.
For me personally I just want a faster review process and easier ability to modify listings if I should need to. The corruption, the inability to keep up with the thousands of listings… those are all a concern as well.
I’m thinking their attempt at a blog is a way to hold on to our hopes just a little longer. Regardless the motives behind the blog, I hope they will take it and us seriously.
Though I agree, the next best thing would be to monetize it and make some money off of it before it sinks.
its been more than a month now that the DMOZ blog has been up, and it looks as dead as DMOZ does... What a JOKE!!!! Great Job Bob Keating!!! Way to stay on top of things
