According to Slashdot Developers Admit that WordPress 2.3 Spies On Users. After reading their article and the discussion on Google Groups it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal. I’m curious what your thoughts are.

I suppose it depends on whether the same data could be used for something else, such as identifying all blogs running Wordpress which have little or know links, and seem to be interlinking.Such data might be useful to clamp down on spam, splogs etc, but I am not sure anyone really needs it.Then again maybe if they knew that andybeard.eu was running on Wordpress (well they do but Akismet might not) then I might not have as many problems posting comments everywhere.
