If you can’t get an endorsement by facilitating web conversations, what exactly does count? This is a terrible call by Twitter. A comlete lack of faith in the community.

Not really that confusing, Dave is just letting people connect the dots. Twitter gives followed links to their app makers. The example Dave cites is giving a followed link to another company from that page. That other company, now a PR7 is (presumably) selling links to many other companies, including dating, free smilies and templates sites (and CNN.com!). Not to mention the Adsense there.  He’s showing how Twitter has just clamped down on users and their own editorially controlled links while still giving link juice to linksellers.
