As a mom of two, her "colic-y baby" example really hit home. Actually, like many parents, I'm more picky about what I buy for my kids than myself, and a personal testimony works wonders.
I do already have a blog for my business, but I appreciate the reminder to keep empathy at the forefront of my blog posts. I tend to lecture a bit :)
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment and the sphinn, @lorisa. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the post.
I tend to lecture a bit too, but I think that happens when you feel strongly about something and you want your readers to agree. But, bottom line you can lecture until you are blue in the face.... unless your readers/customers trust you its not going to do much good. Readers need to feel you and more importantly sense you feel them.
Thank you again Lori for the wonderful comment & sphinn. :)
No problem! With a post this good, it's a pleasure.
You reminded me of my experience with Mr. Clean Erasers, this cleaning sponge you can use around the house. I had seen commercials, and they looked cool but I hadn't bought them.
Then I went to my sister's house for Thanksgiving and she took me around the kitchen and showed me how they took away all those little smudges you can never get off your appliances.
I was sold! I went out the next day and bought some :)
Great Post Shana ... you really poured it out on this one ... :)
Thanks @FLSEO.... glad you enjoyed it. :)
Really a good article. Yes, the customer is your best friend...treat her like one.
Thanks for sphinning this, Lorisa :)

It would be great if we could actually make the transition between using empathy as a tactic for converting customers and just see it as a human priority.
Just a thought.
maybe add "product reviews" to your final list of recomendations. This instills more trust, and empathy from a third party.
