Hamlet Batista wrote a useful post last week on using applications to build links. My first online job was in the shareware industry so this is a familiar technique for me. Here are a few notes to add to the conversation Hamlet started.

This is old old news. Eli from Bluehatseo wrote about this years ago: http://www.bluehatseo.com/bluehatseo-technique-3-easy-pr5-1200-1-way-links/

@the1982smithI guess you didn’t read the post here. Yes using PAD is not new. In fact I was doing this back in 2001 - 5yrs before Eli wrote that article.    My point in adding to Hamlet’s discussion was to give some insight from someone who actually uses this technique. I also think there are better ways of approaching this than throwing out a 5-minute toolbar or screensaver. I can understand why Eli would focus more on the links than the software quality but there is another way of approaching this technique. Besides all that, what’s wrong in adding to the conversation here? It helps those new to the industry learn how to do things. Not everything is breaking news, sometimes we’re just sharing knowledge.
