Best. Post. Ever.
LOL @ streko!
@StalkerB who cares if those other lists are on topic. They regirgitate the same puke over and over.
best thing ive read today!though, i have to admit i was bummed to see blueberries didnt make the cut. the great thing about blueberries is that though you think they all look the same, each variety has a distinct flavor and lends itself to something different. i like to think of the blueberry as the guerilla or ninja of berries.
Pineapple totally deserved number one. Kiwi was snubbed though.Streko - agreed and the only thing worth a sphinn for today.
SEOhack, blueberries? No way. Anti-oxidants sure, but if they were really that cool, then I wouldnt be allergic to those little bastards.
Innacurate! Pineapple is nasty. Tempted to desphinn, but since I know you (not really) and asked for it on twitter (not really) Ill sphinn it.
Blueberries are good and should have made the cut. I did give Kiwi and honorable mention though. Maybe the list should have been top 20. Or maybe I should have just listed all the fruits I have ever had? LOL
Is there a point being made here, or something? ;D
I might have to do a follow up to this post called "Top 5 Reasons why Jaans fruit post is amazing"
something not mentioned about pineapple is that when all else fails, if you have a pineapple you have a weapon.@rhea - sorry youre allergic to them, but i stand by blueberries. all the antioxidants of pomegranates (the bastard fruit) but none of the hassle.
Damn you guys. I was all done participating in Sphinn and then you have to go and post something thats far more relevant to the community than 95% of the submissions. As a point of contention, however, I need to say that durian has to be added to your list of fruit that is awful. Have you ever smelled durian? Holy @$@*! that stuff is nasty.
Follow up post: "Congratulations to incrediblehelp for ranking fruit" I always love sphinns of sphinns AND dont forget the benchmarks, I LUUUUVVV those, too. "Congratulations to XXXX for the 374th Submission" Seriously though this top 10 list is missing a key characteristics of most top 10 lists, its accurate. Generally when someone takes the time to cut-n-paste some scraped content they dont know what they are talking about. You need some errors to make this more accurate (?? huh ??) I nominate potatos and cheese to be included in the list.
FU for not including kiwi. What are you? Some kind of blackhat, link buying piece of trash? Im appalled at your lack of ethics. This debate is truly silly. I wonder why NO ONE out there said one word to Google or Matt Cutts when you clearly stated TWO years ago in his blog that Google is seeking out "kiwi" for nomination as THE BEST fruit and will NOT give them value when they find them?Doug Heil(kidding.... Tony)
Consider my faith in the interwebs restored.
LOl, you guys are funny. Kiwi is mighty tasty, but it is hell of lot of work
For the record yall. As the marketing manager for Blueberries, I felt it important to expose that the only reason we werent on this "top list" is because we refused to pay for inclusion. This list is nothing but linkbait with a focus on fruits that paid for their listings.
Jill as for your Desphinn. I was just trying a to make a valid point on posts that having been going hot lately. Do you think those are of any better value than this one? Please....
Rae I asked you to keep that private...oh well it is out in the open now. And yes blueberries did not pony up any cash even after we offered them a discount we wanted them on the list as much as everyone else.
>>>if this goes hot, its the end of sphinn...no really...because it says a lot about what sphinn wants to see these daysActually, it says a lot about how we feel about the uselessness, regurgiation and unimportance of what we DO see here.
I understand, Jaan. And thats why I desphunn it cuz its just too sad a statement for poor sphinn and we toads who hang out here...
I cant believe bananas only got on the hated list, love bananas! Grapes at #3 sounds good! :D
yeah I must say I spend my fair share of time here. I currently subscribe to the HOT RSS feed and I feel sick at some of the stuff that goes hot.I think some things need to change.
What I feel that this post truly shows is how google has vendetta against the pawpaw fruit industry, forcing them to 2nd tier status while established authority fruits like pineapple, apples, and watermelon are allowed to show content in google
Wow, your first two choices are on my "suck" list...pineapples and watermelons make better missles than foods. Boysenberries...thats my favorite.
@incredihelp WORD, Brotha, Preach on!! really thanks, becuase you couldnt have said it better. the garbage that goes hot here is sad and very indicative of what users find valuable. I used to think Sphinn was a place to come find good, quality, unique articles on online marketing. And it was and there still are. But it really has gone down hill. I could point to tons of really quality submits that have just floundered. so yes, its indicative of the content users here find valuable and useful.
Ohh wait a sec - where the fuck are tomatoes? That shits a fruit.
On second thought this sphinn fails as it doesnt mention Twitter or Matt Cutts anywhere in the title and where is the social media angle? I dont see that anywhere. Utter fail
funny post, but theres no solution to this "problem". There are obviously more beginner to intermediate marketers using sphinn than advanced marketers. The bulk of the people here are not "sophisticated" enough yet to be able to identify the best posts.
How can you ever make a top 10 list without including guavas and still go popular? Have you asked all your friends from the grocery store to vote you up?Ah, wait, I see. You linked to grapes and pears, who are both social fruity power users...
I sphunn this even though the anti-Kiwi sentiment reflected in the post was obviously aimed at the bitter Jane Copland.
In all seriousness, watermelon and cantalope?! Yet again, were seeing bias because of size. Cantalope shouldnt receive special treatment just because its on every salad bar and in every fruit salad in the country. Huckleberries have as much relevance and arguably far better quality, but theyll never break the top 10 in this unfair system because theyre only available in small quantities and areas. Wheres the decency in that?!...this is fun. Lets argue about fruit all day instead of boring shit. I challenge someone to make a video using fruit as a discussion on rankings and page rank allocation. Id do it, but I only have apples at the moment...
im starting to work on my "top ten comments on the fruit post" post for this site.
The RippedSEM votes for Mango Protein. The RippedSEM only put highly processed products with "Muscle" on the label, in this iron pumping machine of a body.
Mangos!
what about lingonberries? this just illustrates the impact of localization on search results, or, i mean, fruit preference.
this video illustrates fruit, song, racism (wont sell an apple to a kiwi), and something. You totally left it off your list..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqxnm6t3QMw
But pineapple gets stuck in your teeth. No way should that get the best FruitRank™
No huckleberries, boysenberries or guavas, no Cutts or social media statements. Your right...total failure.
@ignignokt904 Flight of the Concords are great!
I say that lychee is the nastiest fruit... for horrible taste and similar appearance to a testiclehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Litchi_chinensis_Luc_Viatour.jpg
It did just occur to me though.... Please correct me if I am wrong...The foundation of the problem here is that Sphinn articles that are lists are not a positive type of article, and shouldnt be sphunn up. However, at the same time Dave Naylor got a bunch of flack for blogging about Twitters Bio URL lacking a no-follow(that he should have kept it under his hat/ out of the spotlight)... So if we dont want REAL tips to be exposed...then what do we expect to be sphunn?
Very funny. Best post ever.
Total kiwi bias here. I am incredibly bitter about it and plan to inform the embassy. Them damn bananas and pears have always had it out for us.
@ev - just a heads up, number 8 - raspberry really should have a NoSwallow applied.
On a serious note, I dont think the example article went hot due to the writer having friends who sphunn it for him, but more the case that lots of people new to the industry rush to Sphinn as a key reference point and the article was relevant to them. This subject keeps coming up again and again, and I think the only way to tackle it is to more clearly differentiate between beginners, intermediate and advanced articles. Its not going to go away while new people join the community on a regular basis.Perhaps someone would like to take the plunge and create a site with strict moderation for advanced articles alone? But then again, maybe not considering anything put up would result in lower levels of traffic in contrast to that which sphinn brings.
I think passion fruit is so ignored in popular media. I mean its passion! right? No really. i heart passion.
@ChelseaBlacker LOL, nicely done!
Okay, Im a little late back to the party. @incrediblehelp (comment #3)The reason I care if its on topic or not is that Sphinn, as it says in the logo, is an internet marketing news and discussion forum, not a greengrocers :pDont get me wrong, I said I appreciated the point that was being said about the regurgitated posts, but its pretty much a cliche (or perhaps now its post-post-ironic?) that Sphinn is becoming a haven of regurgitated posts and top X lists dominating the Hot Topics page. All people are doing with voting this up is perpetuating this and thats really the kind of baiting the article was designed for, but I dont think highlighting this issue is Sphinn worthy news. Others obviously disagree and its not, at the moment, a huge deal to ignore or move past the posts that dont interest me, but hopefully it wont get to the stage where we cant see the useful posts for the nonsense people are Sphinning. Its all about participation though and the odd off topic post for light entertainment is fine, but if we all moan about whats happening and then keep it going ourselves quis custodiet ipsos custodes?!
"where the f*** are tomatoes? That s***s a fruit."Right on, streko. And dont forget cucumbers, while were at it.
sheesh. can i not just sphinn it because i enjoyed the article, and get the joke?
I love this post! makes me want to eat my number 1 most favorite fruit..^^ which is mango..^^
Great article, great point. I was really excited about sphinn until I realized that it was just top 10 lists with slightly reworded information...I completely stopped reading it because of it. If something goes hot on sphinn it says little about how useful the article is, its more how much pull the submitter has. I hope something can be done about this because its turning in to the Cosmopolitan of seo.
@Disco-StuI agree that the pull of the submitter is important but everyone here has a vote and a desphinn. They can use these to improve the quality. I know most people want to be a news consumer rather than producer, thats just the nature of "social" media. Its similar to voting, if you dont get involved you leave a vacuum - others will fill that place and push their own agenda. They say all you need for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Well all you need for the post quality to tank is for people who care to walk away. Others will gladly step up to the plate and spam their top 10 lists into the system.
Thanks aves!
Almost see what youre trying to achieve but at least the other lists are on topic. Others may make this go hot, but its not for me.
if this goes hot, its the end of sphinn...no really...because it says a lot about what sphinn wants to see these days
Sorry, I think this will be my first Desphinn. I get the point but proving something is wrong by doing something wrong again is not going to help.
