I was really disappointed in Michael when I read what he wrote about Guy, but now my faith has been restored in this wonderful community. Now youre talking Michael!
This makes me proud to call myself an SEO. I know I was critical about Graywolfs post but I was never against him. Just the means of his message, not the message itself.<div></div><div></div><div>Mr. Gray did this on his own initiative and I honestly commend an act like this. And I cant express how encouraging this made me feel. To see an SEO leader, say something he didnt have to, yet say it loudly and proudly.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Again. Awesome. Totally awesome and <b>my hat is off to Graywolf.</b> Bravo! Bravo!</div>
Michael, I think you did the right thing here. It takes a big man to admit when they goofed. Altough, I was really enjoying taking part in the comments! Does anyone know why the original was removed from Sphinn?
This was the right thing to do for sure. If Google does something to someone you like, the solution is not to point the finger on whoever you think does the same thing.Take the highroad :)
@graywolf"People make mistakes, sometimes really bone-headed stupid ones, in incredibly public places. It’s not the first one I’ve made and I doubt it will be the last, but hopefully I realize when I do make one and try to fix it."Well said. Power to you.
I also want to join people here who valued your action, Michael. Real courage is required for publicaly admitting in being done something wrong. I like being witness of reconciliation. And also was glad to know Michael and Guy.
You raise a good point, Joshua - Ive disagreed with Micheals posts before, but I still hold personal and professional respect for him. Posts like his apology to Guy help demonstrate why Im not the only one.
I suspect this is just a language issue. Michaels post "read" too much like an claim that had no known basis in fact -- that Guy K. had received payola for posting on his blog. Subsequent information reportedly from Guy K. himself suggests he received the payola for some other favor related to a photo conference. Oops. Either way, Im sure Guy will be declaring that $1300 gift and the tax man will get paid his due, right? But Michaels post was really about payola and links... which everyone seems to have missed. And now an apology...I dont like to see that.Had Michael written his post more delicately, he could still have made the same observation (Guy Kawasaki has a new $1300 camera hes posting rave reviews about) without suggesting baseless claims. We need people to question authority...and learn how to do it well. We all benefit from it. It might be best to stick to a safer target like Jason Calcanis for a little longer, though.Perhaps the saddest outcome of all of this... now everyone thinks the Nikon D90 is a great new advancement because of the video. Huh. Canons 5DMkIII does all that and more, with 1080p video! Oh, and did I mention that Carl Zeiss is now making glass with the Canon EF mount? Full frame sensor with Zarl Zeiss glass... now were getting somewhere in the digital world.Cue the Canon vs. Nikon debate.
I learned it the hard way too Michael. You are a bigger man for it.
Props to Michael for showing what makes a true industry leader.
